Premium Lava Rock

This is an easy one! What's cheaper to include: 3-5 extra pieces of bent sheet metal to cover burners (heat plates) or bags of grill-quality lava rock? Definitely the heat plates! If you're a grill company who has outsourced grill manufacturing to China, it's SO MUCH EASIER to have overseas factories throw in some extra pieces of metal and retail package it all up for the big box stores. Sourcing and shipping lava rock from American quarries? Too expensive and too much hassle. These grill companies depend on their marketing department to come up with slick adspeak to convince customers metal plates are superior and voila!! Extra profit, less hassle. The myth that metal plates are better or even just as good is not true; it never was. Let's get back to grilling over lava!
